Roger Price has sent me the latest updated version of his epic “Bristol Pipemakers” 16th to 20th centuries and their family histories. There is more to come as he has has notes and illustrations to add to the sequences RIC-TIP & WIL-Y.

Roger is also hoping to make progress in his transcription of Bristol’s Great Audit Books so that we will have a list of burgesses going back to 1525, much earlier than the first surviving Book. As well as all that, he has promised to send me a disc of his study of the “missing” burgesses for the period 1599-1607.

Great stuff.

Alas, just as have no pipemakers in my family history, we never became burgesses either……our one apprentice to a burgess master disgraced himself by getting transported. Never mind. It takes all sorts.

This is a fabulous achievement. How I wish I had a pipemaker ancestor!
