Have you been listening to “A History of the World in a Hundred Objects” on BBC 4, weekday mornings at 9.45 a.m. and repeated at various times during the day? If not, I urge you to do so. 

The objects concerned, all from the British Museum, are posted on the website and there is also a chance for local people to post their own artefacts. I have posted the Kingswood Miner’s Candlestick and am pleased to say it has just appeared.
